Bug#648615: Latest update of nautilus in unstable has removed everything from desktop

I'm running Wheezy and just upgraded from nautilus 2.30.1-3 to nautilus 3.0.2-4.

After this upgrade I saw that:
    1.  items in ~/Desktop no longer appear as icons on my root window

    2.  the nautilus Scripts menu, including the items in:
             ~/.gconf2/nautilus-scripts
no longer appears with a right click on the root window of my gnome
2.30+11 desktop, although it does appear in nautilus windows.

    3. mounting removable media no longer displays a desktop icon from which
one can launch a nautilus window to browse the contents although the
file system is properly mounted (via udev).

Although this data and info is still available, it is not gotten as
conveniently as before, particularly #2.

Are these changes in nautilus 3.0 or was some default configuration removed
that allowed them to work as in 2.30?

thanks,
