Is this maybe a version mixup here?

Does it help if you make sure that the rhythmbox subpackages are of the same
version?

Can you also try with a fresh user account, to check if rb chokes on old
configuration data.

A full backtrace [1] would be helpful too.

Needless to say that rb is running fine here.
