No problems here. After the upgrade, the beep reappeared (which is
bad, BTW, as the user's settings should be preserved!), but I saw
/etc/gdm3/greeter.gsettings containing:
# Disabling sound in the greeter
#[org.gnome.desktop.sound]
#event-sounds=false
So, I uncommented these settings:
# Disabling sound in the greeter
[org.gnome.desktop.sound]
event-sounds=false
Then I rebooted the machine (this is necessary: gdm3 needs to be
restarted, and "/etc/init.d/gdm3 restart" doesn't work correctly).
The beep disappeared.

> picture-uri='file:///usr/share/themes/Adwaita/backgrounds/stripes.jpg'

[org.gnome.desktop.sound] may be needed (see above).
This bug is probably invalid.
