Subject: libgnomevfs2-common: Firefox 6 and Inkscape aren't able to both work correctly
Package: libgnomevfs2-common
Version: 1:2.24.4-1
Severity: important
*** Please type your report below this line ***
I'm unable to open my Preferences window or Downloads window with Firefox 6 (not Iceweasel) unless I edit the file at
/etc/gnome-vfs-2.0/modules/default-modules.conf
per this bug report:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=626076
When I edit the file (above) and comment out the line
file: file
to read
#file: file
everything works in Firefox (this is listed as a Temporary Solution in that report, http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=626076#5
However, when I do that, I am unable to open Inkscape files per this bug report:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=567045
When I try to open files in Inkscape, my CLI output reads:
$ inkscape
(inkscape:4962): libgnomevfs-CRITICAL **: gnome_vfs_uri_is_local: assertion `uri != NULL' failed
** (inkscape:4962): WARNING **: Invalid URI
** (inkscape:4962): WARNING **: Error: Could not open file '/home/jthomas/images/sju-10yr/ryank_cutout.svg' with VFS
Removing that comment-mark to re-enable the "file: file" line allows Inkscape to work again, but not Firefox.
