retitle 646180 gdm3 occasionally spawns X continuously when the previous X session terminates
found 646180 3.4.1-2
thanks

Actually this is here a locally rebuilt gdm3 with a patch against
gui/simple-greeter/gdm-clock-widget.c[*].

The cause of the problem with fvwm has been identified (bug 660981)
and it is not related to gdm3 at all. I was actually seeing here two
independent problems...

I had the same kind of problem in the last few months, and there were
lots of Xorg log files. It has just occurred again after I quit fvwm
(the machine had been rebooted a few minutes before, was put into sleep
and resumed in order to test bug #683768). I've attached an archive
containing all the Xorg log files and the corresponding syslog, until
I switched off the laptop.

Possibly a related bug: #681830
