Although CUPS can be configured from its web interface etc., GNOME
related tools seems to be non-functioning.

I see otheres are having problem too:

Here is my case:

$ sudo system-config-printer
Error loading /etc/cupshelpers/preferreddrivers.xml: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/etc/cupshelpers/preferreddrivers.xml'

AttributeError: 'PrinterPropertiesDialog' object has no attribute 'parent'

/etc/cupshelpers/preferreddrivers.xml is read from Package:
python-cupshelpers at line 347 of /usr/share/pyshared/cupshelpers/ppds.py

GNOME3's cobfiguration tool does not work either ...

If someone have time to fix this, this bug should be promoted to RC
grave bug to get it accepted to release.
