Thanks for the heads-up on this.  If this is the case, oerhaps g-p-m
should detect if no gnome-session is running and report itself as
disabled somehow?

There seems to be a common thread of poor or absent error reporting (not
even cryptic guru meditations to stderr) in the pieces of gnome 3 that
i've tried :(  I understand not wanting to overwhelm the user with
administrivia, but surely there's a better balance to be struck between
reams of gobbledy-gook and utter silence.

Or is there actually good error logging, and i'm  just not looking in
the right place?
