Package: gnome-settings-daemon
Version: 3.4.2-3
Followup-For: Bug #678248

I confirm that I have nearly the same problem, except that g-s-d always crashes
with a segmentation fault on startup and can't be run even manually.
When using gnome-shell, the session crashes immediately.

If launched with '--debug' option, it fails with this last output line:

[1341764871,000,xklavier.c:xkl_engine_start_listen/] The backend does not
require manual layout management - but it is provided by the application
Segmentation fault
