Package: gnome-settings-daemon
Version: 3.4.2-3
Severity: important
Unfortunately I don't have much more useful information than this. But
when I start my machine (using systemd, if that's in any way relevant),
the following things happen:
- gdm3 starts
- the greeter is using the standard 1980s CDE theme, with gdm logs
showing that gsd has crashed and thus the greeter is unthemed
- I log in
- (sometimes my entire session is just hung on a black screen,
sometimes killall and restart either of gnome-shell or
gnome-settings-daemon a couple of times fixes it, sometimes not)
- sometimes my session works perfectly (aside from all the other
things broken in sid's GNOME right now) at this point;
- sometimes I get my background, but the theme and window
decorations are different (possibly some kind of Debian default?)
from what I've chosen, and I have to killall and restart gsd, at
which point everything works fine;
- sometimes my background is bright blue, same theme/decoration
issue as above, and killall/restart makes things work again.
I'm at a loss as to how to debug this, given that the GDM segfault in
particular happens before I can really get my hands on any of the
system.
Cheers,
Daniel
