Package: gnome-shell
Followup-For: Bug #651506
Dear Maintainer,
I believe I'm seeing the same bug. In my case, here is what happens:
- I see this when coming back to the machine after a while.
- I'm not sure if it's always the case, but at least in most cases,
the machine has gone to sleep, so before displaying the lock screen,
it had to resume.
- there are always several people logged in at the same time via
gdmflexiserver (at least one other, using XFCE).
- when waking up, the lock screen is basically not drawn at all: the screen
stays black, with some console/kernel messages about the
suspend&resume process displayed in the upper left corner. E.g.:
[84202.529410] xhci_hcd 0000:06:00.0: ERROR no room on ep ring
[84202.529421] hub 5-1:1.0: activate --> -12
[84203.782129] xhci_hcd 0000:06:00.0: PCI post-resume error -110!
[84203.782132] xhci_hcd 0000:06:00.0: HC died, cleaning up
[84203.782139] xhci_hcd 0000:06:00.0: HC died, cleaning up
[84203.782150] pm_op(): pci_pc_resume+0x0/0x94 returns -110
[84203.782155] PM: Device 0000:06:00.0 failed to resume async: error -110
[This was carefully copied by hand, but it may contain typos. ]
If I move the mouse, the arrow cursor moves around just fine, tho
slowly/choppily, and sometimes some 32x32 square of the image is "drawn"
but not properly (i.e. it's not black, but it isn't a proper part of the
normal display either). When the mouse is over what would be the gdm3
login box, the arrow cursor changes from an all-white arrow to a black
arrow with white outline.
- If I type the password blindly, something happens (not quite sure what:
the screen doesn't change, but the arrow-cursor-changes are gone/different.
I.e. maybe I was properly logged in, but it's not like I could tell).
- Sometimes, if I wait a while and come back to the computer, the lock screen
is back to normal.
