Bug#665374: Eog refuses to start on amd64

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Try to start eog from the command line...no window shown, 'ps' shows eog is still running

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?

Tried to start eog under 'strace' and 'ltrace' control. Still no eog window shown.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

Eog still didn't show any window and the las lines shown by strace were:
