That means that you would prompt on any new NM install, which means
yet another box that users have to click/press enter through. That's a
ton of additional work for users, with the added possibility of users
getting the option wrong and ending up with NM not handling their
networking for some obscure Debian-specific reason. It's not like the
set of configurations where NM probably shouldn't be run is that big.
