Sorry, after applying that commit as a patch against current source in
unstable and a local build, the behaviour doesn't change. Whether I
pass . or the full absolute path, the meld window skips straight up to
the top level and shows the entire tree.

If it helps, I'm testing with emdebian.org SVN which has multiple
levels, sections etc.

svn co http://www.emdebian.org/svn/current/

I have local changes in current/host/trunk/emdebian-grip/trunk but
starting meld with that directory causes meld to start scanning at
current/
