   * What led up to the situation?
My music library is located on an NFS server. I started rhythmbox before mounting
my NFS. From the perspective of rhythmbox, the directory I configured as the location of my music library wasn't there. I would have expected rhythmbox to complain about missing files, but it segfaulted. I tried starting it several times, and it segfaulted each time.

executing dmesg after the rhythmbox crash:

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)?
After mounting the music library with NFS, rhythmbox started without any problems.
