FWIW, a reboot or three later + some sid upgrades, there's no shutdown
or sleep entry anymore in the menu that opens by clicking on the right
end of the panel (that contains availability, lock screen, etc.) --
but the keybindings still work fine for sleep & hibernation.
I'll mention it in case it's related: since the very same upgrade +
removal initially described on this bug, the screen is sometimes
(always?) not locked on resume, and the battery applet in the panel
sometimes gets stuck in an obsolete state (e.g. pretending my battery
is charging while I've been off the grid for one hour or so).
