Bug#720355: libgtk-3-0: gtk doesn't handle Super_L/R and Menu keys for keybindings

Package: libgtk-3-0
Version: 3.8.2-3
Severity: normal

Hi.

Since a very long time now (since GNOME 3.x), there is something wrong with
the handling of Super_L/R and Menu keys (not in combination with other keys)
in keybindings or custom launchers.

So far I worked around this since it continued to work at least for the Super_L
key when compiz was used, but now that Debian has kicked this out...

Following happens:
In GNOME, I can configure keybindings that consist just of the "Menu" key.
=> But they simply don't work, i.e. nothing happens when I press the "Menu" key
but the context menu is opened.
May be nice for many people, but I never access this with the keyboard, so why
not allowing me to use the key for something else usefull

For the Super_L/R keys it's a bit different, I cannot even select this anymore
in a keybinding definition (in GNOME).
=> see also #720115

I'm not sure whether this is a GTK issue at all, but a Cinnamon developer
gave me a hint, that this has something to do with GTK, and that a patch for it
was actually applied to the *buntu GTK packages:
https://github.com/linuxmint/Cinnamon/issues/2344

Any ideas what to do?

Cheers,
Chris.
