Bug#727685: Please rename package gdm3 > gdm

Hi,

I've started renaming the pam service files back to their original
upstream name.

So the next question is how far do we want to go in renaming the
files/packages back to their original names.

Renaming /usr/sbin/gdm3 and /usr/lib/gdm3/gdm-* is probably the easy.
We could you the same trick to to re-exec the daemon (but in the other
direction this time). We should take care of the
"default-display-manager" during the upgrade.

But for the rest? /var/lib/gdm3, /var/run/gdm3 and /var/log/gdm3 seems
to have opened files when the user is logged in, would it be wise to
move the files around? We probably also should update the HOME of the
Debian-gdm user in this case.

Renaming /etc/gdm3 shouldn't be too difficult, but what about the user
configuration snippets? We could migrate the files in the postinstall
script or we could warn the user and let him do the job?

What about renaming the source/binary package?

my 2¢

PS: not completely unrelated, does anyone knows why gir1.2-gdm3 has
been called that way instead of gir1.2-gdm-1.0?
