Bug#697484: gnome-applets: Can't change output audio device with volume control applet

When there are multiple audio devices available, like for example a USB
headset, the volume control applet will list the devices but will not let you
change the audio device used to play back audio. Selecting the audio device in
the list will show options to adjust the volume for it, but it will not direct
the system to use that device.
