I've done this myself, and also found occurance of that string in
begin_other_verification() function of the gdm's simple greeter (aka
gdm-fallback), file
gui/simple-greeter/gdm-greeter-login-window.c (yes, UI code again).

I can provide patches for both gnome-shell and gdm3, if needed.
