I am reassigning to libgl1-mesa-dri, where I think this belongs.

Using a machine on which I can reproduce the problem, I attach a
screenshot and the debug info from X.

I suspect that this is something that cannot be fixed easily, since both
your card and mine are rely on the nouveau_vieux MESA DRI driver, which
I think is unsupported.

If this is confirmed, we should probably blacklist this hardware in
gnome-session-bin (in /usr/share/gnome-session/hardware-compatibility)
so that GNOME users are automatically redirected to the Fallback/Classic
mode.
