Dear Jonathan and others,
unfortunately this bug seems to accumulated several different issues.
1. The Gtk-Warning
Gtk-WARNING **: Attempting to add a widget with type GtkImage to
GtkToggleButton, but as a GtkBin subclass a GtkToggleButton can
only contain one widget at a time; it already contains a widget
of type GtkLabel
reported upstream [1–3], which is indeed only a red herring as Michael
correctly assumed. I asked upstream in the GNOME BTS bug [7], what
Debian should do about it as the patches to fix the warnings were
deliberately not put into Cheese 3.4 as discussed in the GNOME BTS item
671913 [2].
2. Regarding the hang(?) during start up Giovanni reported. Searching
the Web hangs during start up could be related to thumbnail creation
[4].
Turns out it has shite nothing to do with a bad camera. Cheese
is hung trying to generate thubnails for existing videos. Head
over to cd /home/YOURLOGIN/Videos/Webcam and delete all the
things.
Though in [4] there is also a crash.
In the Debian BTS several crashes of Cheese are reported [5][6], where
[5] was related to a GStreamer problem. Jonathan, might that have fixed
your issue?
So how to continue with this report? Make it just about the warning?
Clone it to track each issue separately?
Thanks,
Paul
