I can confirm this issue with gedit 3.8.3-4 and 3.10.1-1.

As mlouis said editing the last line
of /usr/share/gedit/plugins/externaltools/tools/open-terminal-here
to gnome-terminal --working-directory="$GEDIT_CURRENT_DOCUMENT_DIR" &
solves it.

I have no ideia why
https://git.gnome.org/browse/gedit/tree/plugins/externaltools/data/open-terminal-here.tool.in
doesnt
have double quotes.
