I tried to install alacarte and package configuration failed with this error:

However, I downloaded the source for alacarte, rebuilt it on my machine
without any changes at all, and the rebuilt package installed without
any errors using dpkg.

[My sources.list follows the testing distribution rather than a specific
release, hence the reason for Debian Release: 7.0:
