I have to add that there is one complication:
gnome-shell 3.8 needs a newer gdm3 (>= 3.6) and gdm3 currently ftbfs on
kfreebsd-* [1].
TTBOMK there is no working 3D support on kfreebsd which would allow to
run GNOME Shell on kfreebsd, so we either need some kfreebsd porters to
have a look at this or remove those packages for kfreebsd.
