Yes, it does apply to your version of the package. I marked the package
you had in NEW for an ACCEPT because the new version was no worse than
the current.

Generally, when I file a bug against a package as a member of the FTP
Team, that's because I've bothered to ensure it actually applies to the
package as shipped in Debian. Otherwise, it would earn a prod or a
REJECT. It wouldn't be unreasonable to expect maintainers to check their
package for applicability if they had a doubt, I think, but maybe I have
incorrect expectations.
