Michael, thanks for you quick support. While trying to establish precise
answer to your questions and gather additional details, I discovered
that unchecking box "use colors from system theme" made all visible.
Before upgrade I was using white text on black background. After the
upgrade all was black. I forgot to add, that changing the color settings
doesn't affect my gnome-terminal background (I checked that before).
Actually it is a small bug, that one can adjust colors while "use colors
from system theme" is active.
So for me the thing is solved. Anyway I provide the answers below.

Yes

No output.
> Under which desktop environment do you run gnome-terminal?
Openbox, from jessie.
> Do you get any errors in ~/.xsession-errors?
No such file, maybe because I start X with "xinit my_script" command.
Not starting gnome at all.
