Bug#722036: commits to backport for gnome-contacts/eds-3.8

Hello!

I briefly looked at backporting commits to get gnome-contacts
to build against eds-3.8.

The following commits should do it:

... and possibly also:

(which needs trivial massage to apply)

Unfortunately, it seems a newer upstream release is needed of folks then we
have in Debian Unstable right now to be compatible with eds-3.8 and get
gnome-contacts to work with eds-3.8.
So, to fix this problem we first need to get bug #722034 resolved.
