Bug#739576: Logout/shutdown waits a long time for unresponsive clients

Package: gnome-session
Version: 3.8.4-3
Severity: important
When I try to log out or shutdown, and Evolution is running,
gnome-session seems to wait for 90 seconds for it to exit before
giving up and killing it. I assume that's basically an Evolution
bug, but I think the timeout is too long.
When Emacs is running (and whether or not Evolution is also running),
gnome-session *sometimes* waits for 180 seconds. As this doesn't
always happen, I don't know whether that's a bug in Emacs or whether
gnome-session somehow isn't reliably signalling it. The timeout
in this case is way too long, and it is surely a bug that the
timeout isn't consistent.
Here are the times taken for logout with different combinations of
clients, most tested repeatedly:
quodlibet + akregator + emacs: <2
quodlibet + akregator + emacs + evolution: ~180
quodlibet + akregator + emacs + iceweasel + terminal: ~180, <2, ~180
quodlibet + evolution: ~90, ~90, ~90, ~90
quodlibet + emacs: <2, <2, <2, ~180
quodlibet + iceweasel: <2, <2, <2, <2
quodlibet + akregator: <2, <2, <2, <2
quodlibet + terminal: <2, <2, <2, <2
