Hello,
I have the same issue since an aptitude safe-upgrade today, here is a gdb
backtrace:
(gdb) run -v
Starting program: /usr/bin/gnome-control-center -v
warning: no loadable sections found in added symbol-file system-supplied DSO at 0x7ffff7ffa000
warning: Could not load shared library symbols for linux-vdso.so.1.
Do you need "set solib-search-path" or "set sysroot"?

The symptoms started with a white background that I wanted to change after
login. These are the gconf settings below /desktop/gnome/background:
~> gconftool -a /desktop/gnome/background
color_shading_type = solid
draw_background = true
picture_options = zoom
picture_filename = /usr/share/pixmaps/backgrounds/gnome/background-default.jpg
picture_opacity = 100
secondary_color = #66ba00
primary_color = #66ba00
These packages (gdk/gtk relevant) where updated today:
libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0:amd64 2.28.2-1+b1 -> 2.30.5-1
libgdk-pixbuf2.0-common:amd64 2.28.2-1 -> 2.30.5-1
libgdk-pixbuf2.0-dev:amd64 2.28.2-1+b1 -> 2.30.5-1
libgtk-3-0:amd64 3.8.6-1 -> 3.10.7-1
libgtk-3-bin:amd64 3.8.6-1 -> 3.10.7-1
libgtk-3-common:amd64 3.8.6-1 -> 3.10.7-1
libgtk-3-dev:amd64 3.8.6-1 -> 3.10.7-1
Best regards
