Thanks for digging out, what the problem is. As your log indicates, this 
might very well be another problem due to the missing dependency of 
gnome-settings-daemon on 'systemd-shim | systemd-sysv' [1].

Since you do not want to switch your init system (which would happen, if 
you installed systemd-sysv), I recommend you to install systemd-shim, 
which works independently of the init system in use.

Please report back, if this fixes the problem.
