Dear Maintainer,

$ sudo cheese

(cheese:4111): Gtk-WARNING **: Calling Inhibit failed: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.gnome.SessionManager was not provided by any .service files

Starting without sudo flashes cheese window, then results in the simple message 'segfault'.
The cheese window does appear momentarily on display, then immediately (without interaction) quits as above.
