Package: gnome-terminal
Version: 3.14.0-1
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
* What led up to the situation?
- I wanted to use a custom palette and custom text & background
colours (specifically, the Solarized scheme).
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?
- I went to the Colours tab on Profile preferences, and selected
the built-in Solarized *palette* colour scheme. There was an
immediate surprise here, in that it didn't change the terminal
text and background colours.
- Then, under "Text and Background Colour", I disabled "Use colours
from system theme" and selected the Built-in theme "Solarized
dark" for text and background.
- Unexpectedly this used black as a background colour rather than
Solarized's base02 (which I believe is the usual default), so I
clicked on Background colour to set it myself.
* What was the outcome of this action?
- The palette in the colour picker is completely unrelated to the
Solarized palette which I selected earlier, which meant I had to
separately look up the colour numbers for the Solarized palette,
identify base02's RGB code and manually enter that in the
background colour picker.
* What outcome did you expect instead?
- I think it would be appropriate to include the currently selected
terminal colour palette when picking text and background colours.
- I also think it would be appropriate for palette schemes to
automatically select associated text and background schemes, but
that's a smaller issue.
