Hi,
I didn't realize that MATE developers added "gtk-decoration-layout" key for defining
which window controls will be displayed in CSD windows (yes, MATE has some kind
of support for GTK+3 CSD windows). This key is set to 'menu:minimize, maximize, close'
by default. Once I've set it to empty string (''), these ugly CSD window controls were
gone for good:
gsettings set org.mate.interface gtk-decoration-layout ''
I'm attaching yet another screenshot (with the same set of apps) to show you how this
looks now. The only thing that needs to be fixed here is the double window title in gthumb
(it shows the name of the selected folder).
Of course, things might be different in other DEs/WMs.
