Source: gnome-shell
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

After a apt-get dist-upgrade I was too quickly disposing of gnome-shell when upgrading my system.
After trying apt-get install gnome-shell afterwards it tells me that it has unmet dependencies.

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 gnome-shell : Depends: evolution-data-server (>= 3.7.90) but it is not going to be installed
               Recommends: gnome-contacts but it is not going to be installed

It might be a problem with libphonenumber6 which is one of it's transitive dependencies which
 requires liboost-date-time.155.0

>  apt-get install gnome-shell libphonenumber6 libboost-date-time1.55.0 libstdc++6

norangshol at bluebox:~$ sudo apt-get install gnome-shell libphonenumber6 libboost-date-time1.55.0 libstdc++6

libstdc++6 is already the newest version.
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 libstdc++6 : Breaks: libboost-date-time1.55.0 but 1.55.0+dfsg-4 is to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

ii  libstdc++6-4.7-dev:amd64                                    4.7.4-3                                     amd64        GNU Standard C++ Library v3 (development files)

I wish to be able to install the gnome-shell package again.

If this is a silly user error due to silly apt-get dist-upgrade, please ignore this bug report and slam me. :'(
