I just started getting this same error when booting back up from
hibernation the last 3-4 times. Don't know about suspend since I rarely
use it.
Segfault in syslog shows:
kernel: [24338.032458] gnome-shell[6447]: segfault at 1f8 ip
00007fc101b2cdef sp 00007ffd9c765a80 error 4 in
i965_dri.so[7fc1017d7000+51e000]
This is with gnome-shell version 3.14.4-1~deb8u1 on Jessie.
Visually what will happen is the login screen will be skipped and the
hibernated desktop will be briefly shown without window borders. The
Gnome "Oh no! Something went wrong" screen will come up and clicking log
out and logging back in will work, losing the hibernated desktop, of
course. Graphical hardware acceleration also seems disabled at this point.
I've tried reproducing the bug by booting up, and starting up various
programs that I usually have running, hibernating, and then booting back
up, but I've been unable to trigger it in this way and it boots up normally.
