Bug#774495: "nearby sites" mdns bookmarks lead to broken ipv6 addresses

Package: epiphany-browser
Version: 3.14.1-1
Severity: normal

when using "nearby sites" (avahi / mdns) bookmarks to discover a service
(eg /usr/share/doc/avahi-daemon/examples/example.service copied to
/etc/avahi/services/ with the service name set to _http._tcp), ipv6
addresses are broken when they are assembled to the address bar: with my
address being fe80::800:27ff:fe00:0 on eth0 and the port set to 515, i'm
sent to http://fe80::800:27ff:fe00:0:515/, which not only lacks bracket
escaping of the v6 address, but also the interface index -- correctly,
it should be http://[fe80::800:27ff:fe00:0%eth0]:515/.

as a result, the announced service is unreachable unless the address is
fixed manually or gets replaced with the hostname (again, manually).

note that once https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=634661 is
resolved (which might be easy to fix when working on this bug), the
issue of putting the interface in remains until bug #644912 (and
possibly bug #466014) is fixed.

best regards
chrysn
