Bug#784169: rhythmbox is broken after upgrade from wheezy to jessie, fails to play.

Starring rhythmbox from the console gives error messages "can't open
display".

Note: the following tests are done after a kernel update, installing
pulseaudio and totem and a reboot.

Running rhythmbox from a terminal gives the following messages
