More precisely, you have had this *symptom* for about a year.

If your gnome-settings-daemon is not crashing, then I don't think you are
experiencing the same underlying bug as Aron. It looks as though
bug #755050 refers to what you're experiencing, and has the same or a very
similar workaround (using dconf/gsettings to disable the relevant g-s-d
plugin) - please follow up there instead if necessary.

I'm trying to avoid tracking more than one underlying bug with
similar symptoms on the same bug number, because it makes it really hard
to determine when something has been fixed.
