Looks like the upstream tarball is borked and the following is not
properly set in configure.ac:

localedir='$(prefix)/$(DATADIRNAME)/locale'

if we run gnome-autogen.sh, to refresh the build system, we get a new
enough m4/intltool.m4 and DATADIRNAME will be set to "share".
