Dear Maintainer,
It seams that parallel printers are no more recognized automatically by
udev rules/systemd service
Following are the journal lines of interest
ott 02 19:06:16 mint13ldme kernel: lp: driver loaded but no devices found
ott 02 19:06:16 mint13ldme kernel: ppdev: user-space parallel port driver
ott 02 19:06:16 mint13ldme kernel: parport_pc 00:05: reported by Plug
and Play ACPI
ott 02 19:06:16 mint13ldme kernel: parport0: PC-style at 0x378, irq 7
[PCSPP,TRISTATE,EPP]
ott 02 19:06:16 mint13ldme kernel: parport0: Printer, Hewlett-Packard HP
LaserJet 1100
ott 02 19:06:16 mint13ldme kernel: lp0: using parport0 (interrupt-driven).
When I manually add the printer in the GUI, it is regularly seen and
correctly installed with the right driver.
So it's only the udev part involved, apparently.
I saw that udev rule is focused only on usb printers, so I wonder if
it's by design.
I tried to manually run
/lib/udev/udev-configure-printer add /devices/pnp0/00:05/ppdev/parport0
just to see...
ott 02 19:35:10 mint13ldme udev-configure-printer[2341]: add
/devices/pnp0/00:05/ppdev/parport0
ott 02 19:35:10 mint13ldme udev-configure-printer[2341]: device devpath
is /devices/pnp0/00:05/ppdev/parport0
ott 02 19:35:10 mint13ldme udev-configure-printer[2341]: Missing sysattr
idVendor
A quick look at the source of the service helper enforced the feeling
that parallel devices support has gone.
What am I missing?
Regards
Claudio
