I tested in a sid chroot and got an even longer error (see below).

This was solved by installing libgtk+-3-0/experimental, which also
dragged in:

The following additional packages will be installed:
  adwaita-icon-theme libgtk-3-common
Suggested packages:
  gvfs
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  libgtk-3-0-dbg
The following packages will be upgraded:
  adwaita-icon-theme libgtk-3-0 libgtk-3-common
3 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.


The error message before I installed was:
