Bug#815049: desktop becomes unresponsive

Package: gnome-shell
Version: 3.14.4-1~deb8u1
Severity: important

My desktop stopped responding to inputs from mouse and keyboard.

I could still move the mouse around the screen but windows would not
gain focus (I use focus-follows-mouse mode) and clicking did nothing.

Keystrokes didn't make anything happen either.

CTRL-ALT-F1 allowed me to get a text console

I was able to log in to the host from another machine and kill the
gnome-shell process

Once it was killed, all the window borders vanished but I was able to
click in a shell window to get focus and then start typing. I ran the
gnome-shell binary again and the window borders are back.

I wasn't having problems like this before jessie. I regularly have
problems where gnome-shell restarts by itself, sometimes taking 20
seconds, making all the windows flicker.
