    * What led up to the situation?
I opened gnome-system-log via the applications menu and navigated to the 
filters options.

    * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or 
ineffective)?
I tried editing existing filters and adding a new filter.

    * What was the outcome of this action?
Upon trying to savie the changes gnome-system-log closed out. No changes 
were saved when I re-open the application.

    * What outcome did you expect instead?
For filter changes to be made and saved
