To me the relevant part seems to be
/usr/bin/env: 'python': No such file or directory
build/tap-driver is a python script and we don't have an explicit
build-depends on python2. I assume it was pulled in via a transitive
dependency so far.
Adding a Build-Depends on "python" seems to do the trick.

Btw, this file was gzipped, which made it a bit odd to handle.
Having a log.gz (or uncompressed) would imho have been better.
