Package: gedit
Version: 3.14.0-3
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
Gedit will NOT display the last line of content if it is set to READ ONLY. More generally, I installed Debian 8.4 from scratch and noticed that when opening a text file that is too long to fit entirely on the screen (i.e., the file must be scrolled to view all content), Gedit will not display the last line of content until the "enter" key is pressed. If the file happens to have been marked READ ONLY, pressing the "enter" key does not work and the last line of content is NEVER viewable. If I have 100 lines of content, only 99 lines is viewable when opening Gedit. Using cursor key, Page Down, Ctrl+End, all fails to show the last line (i.e., the 100th line of content).

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?
If the file is not marked READ ONLY, pressing the "enter" key causes Gedit to show the last line of content.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

   * What outcome did you expect instead?
Gedit should display all content (including empty lines) at the end of the file. Nothing should be hidden from view.
