Bug#827595: gksu does not handle incorrect password properly depending on locale

Package: gksu
Version: 2.0.2-9
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
when using gksu with german locale under IceWm environment (in case that
matters) after typing an incorrect password the gksu window does not show up
again for subsequent tries, but gksu just exits silently, leaving the user to
guess if they mistyped the password or the requested application has crashed in
the background.
I also noticed that none of the messages in the gksu window (with the exception
of the "Cancel" button) are translated, though the .po file from the source
package seems to suggest that german translations exist. Maybe this indicates
that something with the detection of the locale settings in gksu goes wrong,
which then might result in the "incorrect password" handling error.
When I set LC_MESSAGES=C and type an incorrect password, gksu gives me three
tries to enter the correct password and finally shows a message telling me
about the wrong password, just as I would have expected.
Best regards
Michael
