wanted to try using gnome-software to replace aptitude as it draws in few dependencies on non-gnome desktop (I use an Openbox-session started from console 
with startx.) After install, program UI starts successfully. However, the Software Sources menu item cannot change settings. To me it appears to have something 
to do with gaining root permissions. The error output follows

I do have gnupg installed but have not done any setup of it. The ERROR reports happen when I try to enable the "main" software category in the first 
Software Sources window.
