I don't have a more detailed documentation than that, sorry.
Your best option is probably to poke the upstream developer directly,
e.g. via IRC (#gtk+ on irc.gnome.org) or the upstream mailing list at
https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gtk-devel-list
