Maybe the list of processes that get executed in a GDM session needs to be
limited.
Currently, it runs gnome-shell, which in turn picks in a bunch of foreign
elements apart from native gnome.
Take this example:
/usr/share/gnome-session/sessions/gnome.session
This mentions not just the gnome shell, but also gnome-settings-daemon, which is
continuously firing the actual command to dim the light, but fails because it
does not have the privilege to.
This doesn't have a visible effect (otherwise the severity would have been much
higher) but for my power saving measures, this is a problem.
