Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
* What led up to the situation?
I have 3 monitors connected (1 DVI [main], 1 HDMI [TV], 1 VGA [small]). I
cannot use all of them at once, but most often two at a time (I don't use
"Clone" but "Secondary"). ([main], or [main]+[TV], or [main]+[small]). But
sometimes when I want to switch from [main] to [main]+[small], the change is
not possible because the [TV] is in between.
Visually as "arrange combined monitors" shows: [small][TV][main], and I would
want [TV][main][small]. But the thing is I cannot access "arrange combined
monitors" until they are 2 active monitors...
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?
The workaround I have found is to first switch on the [TV], then access the
"arrange combined monitors" to put the [small] where I want it (edge-to-edge
with [main]), then switch off the [TV], and switch on the [small]...
* What was the outcome of this action?
OK
* What outcome did you expect instead?
I would like to be able to access "arrange combined monitors" before. maybe add
a rule as if (num_monitors >=3) then show the "arrange combined monitors" ? so
that one can first fix the arrangement before applying resolution change.
(More generally, I find annoying to have to first select a secondary display
and apply the changes, THEN access "arrange combined monitors" to put it where
you want and apply again the changes.)
Thank you !!
